"Your Choice. Your Control" - Visual Brand Design Concept for a Contraceptive Brand.
Contrariis is a speculative brand created informally for a friend’s university course on science and society. They developed the concept and research, then asked if I could create a visual concept for the brand.
The name—based on the Latin word for contraceptive with a stylized double “i”—frames the product as both clinical and quietly critical of gendered design norms. The branding uses a minimal, pharmacy-inspired aesthetic in white, black, and light blue.
The Contrariis branding includes logo design, layout, and packaging for both pill bottles and boxes. The logomark centers on the mirrored “ii” characters—designed as a flexible element that can blend seamlessly into the full wordmark or stand alone as a compact icon. With a bold, symmetrical form and rounded base, the logo suggests protection, control, and stability—its silhouette deliberately but subtly referencing physical form without becoming explicit.
The color palette is limited to white, black, and light clinical blue to convey trust and neutrality. Typography and layout emphasize clarity, dosage, and tone, with structured alignment that feels intentional and self-assured. Mockups were developed to simulate a polished, shelf-ready product.
